Building data center infrastructure today requires careful consideration of sustainability, energy, and water alongside performance and reliability. How should sustainability be incorporated into infrastructure decisions? How should operators approach energy procurement across different markets? And how can water be managed responsibly as computing density continues to increase?

These were the themes discussed at Data Center & Power SEA 2026 in Bangkok, where PDG's COO and Co-founder, Varoon Raghavan, joined Dr. SAJI PK, Director of Infrastructure Operations (APMEA) at Amazon Web Services (AWS), for a fireside conversation on digitalization, decarbonization, and the future of data center infrastructure.

The discussion reflected a shared view that sustainability cannot be an afterthought. The conversation also explored how approaches to energy and water will continue to evolve as markets, technologies and operating environments change across Asia. Rather than applying a single model, delivering infrastructure at scale increasingly depends on responding to local conditions while maintaining a consistent operating discipline. Both leaders reflected that the unprecedented growth of digital infrastructure in the region is also a tremendous opportunity to make game-changing progress on sustainability.

The discussion comes on the heels of the release of PDG's fifth Sustainability Report, which outlines how these principles are being applied across the business: https://lnkd.in/gvHatGSn.

Thank you to Dr. Saji PK for the thoughtful exchange, and to the Data Center & Power SEA team for convening an important industry discussion.
